Taper & Twist Part 1:
Should you use taper? What about twist? Turns out, if you're not careful, using rules of thumb in this category can be detrimental. This video shows you how to make sure your taper and linear twist give you the best performance possible.
Taper & Twist Part 2:
This video looks at the performance of 3 wings from Part 1, and evaluates their performance over a range of lift coefficients. Results show that if your aircraft has to operate efficiently over a range of lift coefficients, you may want to use taper to control the lift distribution. On the other hand, if your mission specifies a fairly constant lift coefficient, twisting the wing may be the best option to minimize drag.
